DRC2018: Happiness doesn’t come from things

BrianGoma 2018

My first trip to Africa I came for a really specific reason. A trip to figure out what makes me happy in general what makes other people in the world happy.

What I found when I came here the first time was that it isn’t what most of us think it is. Happiness comes from a simpler place and a simpler way of finding joy.

Many kids in Africa grow up completely happy until someone comes here and tells them they are not happy or shouldn’t be happy. And then suddenly they want different things than most African kids, they want materialistic things and money. Somehow we all have to find a way to be happy child without the battles of the world and our heads as we grow up and try to be successful but end up unhappy.

I have found a lot of happiness and giving back to others and finding ways to make the world a better place for them and us. On my fFirst day here in the Congo I was reminded why I came here, to remember a simpler things in life make me the happiest. Thanks all of you for supporting me and coming here.

Good night.All The Best, Brian
