Batwa Human Relocation and Land Purchase Project

The Inti Raymi Fund is currently researching Parcels of Land to purchase for the 236 Indigenous Batwa Peoples who were displaced when the government dedicated the Volcanos National Park for the preservation and tourism of the Silverback Gorillas.

The Batwa Peoples are as innocent as the Silverback Gorillas, which they shared the forested mountains with just a few years back. They were forced to relocate into the local urban community and adapt. This process failed because each time they were relocated, they ran back to their homeland hills and hid, over and over until they became exhausted with a fight they didn’t fully understand. Their way of life isn’t right or wrong, it’s simply different from others who have urbanized in Rwanda.
